Our in-depth review

AI inside the workspace you already use

Notion AI is not a standalone chatbot; it lives inside Notion, acting on the documents, wikis and databases your team already keeps there. It can draft and rewrite text, summarise long pages, pull action items out of meeting notes and translate — all without leaving the page you are working on. If your organisation runs on Notion, that context and convenience is the entire point of it.

Strengths

The integration is the selling point: because it works on your existing workspace content, there is no copy-pasting between apps, and it is context-aware within your pages and databases. It is simple enough that non-technical colleagues use it without training, and for summarising sprawling internal docs or extracting tasks from notes it is a real time-saver.

Limitations

Notion AI only works inside Notion, so it cannot help with anything outside that workspace, and it is less capable than a dedicated model like ChatGPT or Claude for heavy generation or reasoning. It is an added cost on top of your Notion subscription, and customisation is limited. If you do not already live in Notion, it is not a reason to switch.

UK data and GDPR

This is a notable strength: Notion offers EU data residency on Business and Enterprise plans, which matters if your team stores personal data in Notion and needs to keep it in the EU. A data processing agreement is available. For UK organisations with data-residency requirements, that puts Notion AI ahead of many US-only rivals.
